TOWN OF ENFIELD

POSITION VACANCY

 

TITLE: Dial-A-Ride Driver, part-time (no benefits)                               WAGE:  $11.37 - $11.48/hr

               

DEPARTMENT:  Dial-A-Ride                                              APPLICATION DEADLINE:  August 30, 2010

 

HOURS OF WORK:  not to exceed 19.5 hours.  Approximate hours are 2 days per week: 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.  Availability other days for relief as desired.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Skill in the operation of a variety of vehicles; knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances and rules involved in vehicle operation; knowledge of the geography of the Town; ability to operate a two-way radio; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; considerable ability to understand and deal with people, such as senior citizens and people that are handicapped.

 

REQUIREMENTS:  Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class B with Passenger Vehicle Endorsement, prior experience as a driver.

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Responsible for transporting senior citizens and handicapped persons in a variety of Town vehicles.

 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the direction of the Bus Coordinator.

 

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Regular and punctual attendance; drives a variety of Town vehicles; transports senior citizens and handicapped persons to and from appointments; operates two-way radio; collects fees; responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicles; responsible for bringing vehicle in for maintenance.

 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: May on occasion drive for other Town departments; performs related work as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, talk, and hear.  The employee must frequently lift up to 40 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
